SPELLBOUND 2020 IS HERE!
[Hidden image]
Your child can be a spelling champion while raising money for Belleview! The money we raise funds classroom resources which directly benefit your Belleview Buffalo. The class with the highest participation wins a popsicle party and the student who collects the most money will win a new Nintendo Switch Lite (a $199 value)!
What is Spellbound?  Students are given a spelling list with 10 words and ask for pledges from family and friends. Students then study these words and take the Spelling Challenge. Pledges are collected based on the number of correctly spelled words (flat dollar donations are also welcome).
Please be on the lookout for pledge envelopes, which will come home this week. The Spelling Challenge will be given on Thursday, January 23rd and graded tests will be sent home on Friday, January 24th. To be eligible for the awesome prizes, all pledge money is due back to school or collected online through Cheddar Up (https://spellbound.cheddarup. com ) by Friday, January 31st.
Thank you in advance for your participation. This is an important fundraiser for Belleview as our PTCO continues to fund classroom resources. Your assistance helps to ensure that our students continue to receive an enriched educational experience!
Questions? – Please contact Erin Hirstine  or Ann LaPoint.

Thanksgiving Meal Box Update

[Hidden image]

We couldn’t be more pleased to announce that as a result of the Belleview community’s efforts, more than 85 Thanksgiving Meal Boxes were delivered to families this year!  A handful of the boxes were delivered to Belleview families. The vast majority of the Meal Boxes, however, were delivered to a nearby CCSD elementary school, where the student body is comprised of a largely low-income population and one that relies heavily on free and reduced-price school meals to ensure that they have breakfast and/or lunch during the school week.

Food is unquestionably a need for these families. Our contact at the school indicated that each and every family is “incredibly grateful” and that the receipt of the Meal Box is often met with tears of gratitude. We are hopeful that this knowledge reiterates the significant effect that your family’s participation has had on the lives of others.

Thank you to the Belleview students and families who donated nonperishables, entire Meal Boxes and/or gift cards. A special thank you to the Philanthropy Club students and parents, Ms. Glenn and the Belleview Student Council, and Belleview teachers and front office staff for the extra effort to make this year’s event a success.

“SOFT START” ANNOUNCEMENT, starting Dec 2nd Monday
Introduction of a “Soft Start” to the school day – starts Monday, December 2.
After many discussions with parents and staff members, we are pleased to be introducing a “soft start” to the school day at Belleview Elementary. This means beginning Monday, December 2 students will go straight to their classrooms at 7:50; there will no longer be any students lining up on playground or in the front of the building at the start of the school day.
Please do not drop off students before 7:50.
After hanging up coats and bags, students will undertake a range of independent learning activities such as reading and finishing up last night’s homework.
By beginning the school day this way, students do not have to wait outside for their teachers until 8:00. They can begin the day calmly by going straight to the classroom and doing a quiet activity.
If your child arrives at school after 8:00 am, please take them to the main entrance. Do not send your child around to the classroom, as all the doors will be locked. This ensures the class can begin their day smoothly with minimal interruptions.
At the end of the school day, children can be picked up as normal.
Please see attached  Letter from the Principal as well.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Belleview has new school colors.  Our new colors are RedWhite and Blue.  We decided to change them because we wanted to connect our school more to Campus Middle School and Cherry Creek High School.  We are hoping that this change in colors will encourage more school spirit in our building.  The PTCO has already changed the spirit wear to these colors.  Cherry Creek High School Senate will also be setting up a pop-up shop with clothing to buy in the new school colors.  As soon as we have the date for this we will send that to you.  We hope to see more red, white and blue roaming the Belleview halls!

LOST AND FOUND:
[Hidden image]Our LOST and FOUND is full and it is time to claim your items.  Please come in and check for any coats or water bottles that your child is missing.  We will be cleaning out and donating all of these items on October 10th.  After that all items will be gone.

Each school will select one honoree to be recognized at the exceptional volunteer dinner.  If you wish to nominate a volunteer for this award, send an email or letter to the principal Cramer directly at jcramer@cherrycreekschools.org  by October 25th with the name of the volunteer, name of their child(ren) attending Belleview and a brief description telling us, why you nominated this exceptional volunteer.  Please limit to 100 words. If this nominee is selected as the honoree your description may be read the night of the event.  We are looking forward to reading all the wonderful nominations that will come our way.  Thank you for making Belleview an amazing school and community!

SCHOOL WIDE COUNT, Wed Oct 2nd

[Hidden image]This year’s official state-wide student count will take place on Wednesday, Oct 2.

Winners selected for Totally Terrific Teacher Time

Attached are the winners of Totally Terrific Teacher Time.  Winners will be contacted by their teacher if any special arrangements are necessary.  Please check to see if your child won a prize and note the date of the prize event on your calendar.  Congratulations to our winners and thanks for supporting your Belleview PTCO.

Delayed Start on May 23rd

On Wednesday, May 23rd Cherry Creek High School will be celebrating their graduation at 8:00 am at Stutler Bowl.  The traffic on and off the Cherry Creek campus will be extremely high.  Due to the increased traffic we will be adjusting the start time for Belleview Elementary School on May 23rd. We will start school at 8:30 am to allow the graduation traffic to settle and allow traffic relief to the streets in our neighborhood.

Students may be dropped off for line up or breakfast at 8:15 a.m. The buses will arrive to your designated bus stop 30 minutes later than normal. For example, if your bus would normally arrive at 7:32 it will arrive at 8:02.  The school buses should arrive at Belleview at about 8:15 am.  If you need assistance with time of your bus stop pick up you can call Rhonda at the main office at 720-554-3100.

We appreciate your understanding and patience with adjusting the start time for this day.  In the past we did not have to adjust our start time, because we did not start school at the same time the high school started graduation.  If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call me (Tiffany Kophs, Principal of Belleview) at 720-554-3100.
