2018 – 2019 Positions & Committees

Get involved and help maintain Belleview’s high level of excellence. We need your help to fill PTCO leadership positions for the 2018-2019 school year. Please read the attached job descriptions and indicate any/all positions or committees of interest.  Complete and return this form to the front desk by Friday, February 9th (or email to pixiehawkinson@gmail.com).  Slating decisions will be complete and you will be notified by March 1st. Descriptions of PTCO Chair/Coordinator Positions for 2018-2019


Executive Committee Positions: Meets monthly (during the school day) to discuss PTCO activities & vote on executive decisions.

Co-Presidents Elect – Responsible for Meet & Greet in August and Special Person’s Day in November.  In addition, the co-president elects are responsible for collecting event wrap up sheets (completed by each event chairperson at the completion of the event) to pass down to the incoming chairpersons. Co-Presidents elect will be co-presidents the following year. This is a minimum 2-year commitment with an optional 3rd year as Parliamentarians in advisory role to the executive board.

Vice President of Fundraising – Responsible for managing fundraising programs, which fund the PTCO activities and events, assist with preparation of the budget, and serve on Cash Management Committee.

Corresponding Secretary – Handle all PTCO correspondence, and coordinate Secretary’s Day in the spring. With assistance from the co-communications chairperson, compile and distribute monthly Bulletin and weekly email/e-blast communications from PTCO chairs to Belleview families on upcoming events and important announcements, as well as help maintain parent email database, and review and assist the School Directory Chair with the school directory.

Recording Secretary – Keep a record of all PTCO meetings, provide minutes to the Executive Board, and keep records of the Constitution, Bylaws, Rules of Order, and Standing Rules.

Treasurer/Co-Treasurer – Handle the money for the PTCO, serve on the Cash Management Committee, make deposits, write checks, utilize QuickBooks and other designated software to manage funds, and prepare the budget and taxes. Work with Co-Treasurer to communicate with staff and organize special speakers/programs for the students to be held during the school day.

*This is a 2-year commitment.


Communications with the Larger CCSD Community:

Belleview/CMS Liaison – Communicate important information from Campus Middle School that is relevant to the Belleview community.

District Accountability Representative- Attend monthly CCSD District Accountability meetings and communicate important information to the Belleview community.

Legislative Representative – Communicate information from the Cherry Creek Legislative Network, as well as the district on legislative matters affecting Belleview and the overall school district.

PIN Representative – Attend monthly PIN meetings held on the first Tuesday of each month during the school year and communicate information to the Belleview community.

School Directory Coordinator – Compile the school directory. Solicit, collect and track Sponsorships. Corresponding Secretary reviews before printing and will assist if necessary.

Website Manager – Maintain the Belleview PTCO website (can be done from home).


Community Building:

Donuts with Dad – Coordinate an early morning breakfast before school with Dads and their Belleview students in the fall.

Family Dine Out Nights – Organize and publicize family dining nights at local restaurants.

Muffins with Mom – Coordinate an early morning breakfast before school with Moms and their Belleview students in the fall.

Scholastic Book Fair – Assist the Media Center staff in managing the Scholastic Book Fair in November.

Tours– Conduct monthly school tours for prospective Belleview families.


Fundraising Positions:

Box Tops for Education – Collect box tops from each class a few times a year and coordinate a class party for classroom winners at the end of the year.

Cash Management Committee – Responsible for the counting of funds received from all PTCO activities, serve with Treasurer, Co-Treasurer and VP Fundraising; generally meets on bimonthly schedule with more frequent meetings required at the beginning of the year and/or in conjunction with certain events.

King Soopers Coordinator – Coordinate sales of King Soopers’ gift cards and promote their use.

Pledge Drive Coordinator – Coordinate registration and ongoing events related to the primary school-wide fall fundraiser.  With the help of a committee, plan and oversee the entire event.

School Supplies Kits –Collect orders in late spring from families and order from a school supply store. Distribute kits at school in August.

Spellbound Coordinators – Coordinate and advertise a school-wide spelling bee fundraiser in January.

Sponsorship Coordinator – Interact with the DTC community to help with fundraising and sponsorship of the School Directory before school begins.  Develop relationships with local businesses to create ongoing corporate giving and sponsorship.

Spring Auction-Plan largest spring fundraising event for the school.  Along with a committee, find the venue, determine a theme, and solicit prizes from local vendors.

Square 1 Art – Coordinate with art teacher on receiving order forms for art projects and their subsequent distribution in the fall.

Teacher Appreciation Gift Coordinators – Coordinate sales and manage the Scrip gift card program, which allows for families to donate to teachers and staff so that they can purchase gift cards from retailers twice during the school year.


Spirit and Hospitality:

Kindergarten Play Date and Boohoo Yahoo Breakfast Coordinator – Host a play date for new Kindergarteners and their families before school begins in August.  Host a newcomer meeting at school for all parents new to Belleview on the first day of school, as well as contact and provide information to new families throughout the school year.  Help with school tours.

School Store/Spirit Wear – Manage school store (including ordering, inventory & staffing). Store is open 2 Fridays per month during lunch and at some larger events (Special Person’s Day, Meet and Greet, Field Day, etc.).

Spirit Night-Coordinate a family event at a CCHS football game in the fall, including dinner beforehand.

Spring Carnival – Coordinate a fun family evening event with international flair in the spring that includes a small silent auction. With the help of a committee, plan and oversee the event.

Yearbook – Oversee the creation of the school yearbook, manage orders in the fall and yearbook distribution in the spring.


Staff and Teacher Support:

Co-Communications Coordinator – Assist the Corresponding Secretary in compiling and distributing monthly Bulletin and weekly email/e-blast communications from PTCO chairs to Belleview families on upcoming events and important announcements, as well as help maintain the parent email database.

Friends of the Arts – Assist art and music teachers with art and choir events (art show– fall and spring; choir events–twice a year; class musicals throughout year).

Media Center Liaison – Work with our librarian to coordinate volunteers in the media center.

Room Parent Coordinator – Obtain room parents for each class and provide information to the room parents regarding class parties, gift letters, etc. with one organizational meeting in the fall.

Staff Appreciation – Organize luncheons for teachers and staff 4 times during the year and assist in the planning of Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring.

Vision & Hearing Screening Coordinator – Work with the school nurse to organize and manage vision & hearing screening tests in the fall and winter.


Student Activities:

After School Enrichment Program Coordinator – Schedule after-school activities and classes by working with outside companies and coordinating their use of school facilities.

5th Grade Committee – Coordinate, plan and execute fund raisers to support the 5th grade Ameritowne field trip in the spring; create a wonderful final event, including a slide show, for the 5th grade students to celebrate their continuation.

Field Day Liaison– Assist the PE teacher in running Belleview’s Field Day, held on two Fridays in May.

Philanthropy Club Coordinator – Coordinate with Student Council to raise funds or collect items for donations.

Red Ribbon Week – Manage activities and events during the school’s Red Ribbon Week, a nationwide alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign, in October.
